My program aims to promote local Brass and Concert Bands and their performances here on the Sunshine Coast.
I started playing in Brass Bands when in 1962 when a Band was formed in my home town of Croydon, Victoria. My brother and I were taken by my father to the Band room where we met the Bandmaster and players (neither of us able to play an instrument, nor read music). We were given private tuition by Bandmaster Ralph Williamson a couple of days per week, and when we could play the C Scale we were put in the band. I was given the Soprano Cornet and my brother David the G Trombone - two of the rarest and hardest instruments to play in the band and we both continued to play them for many years. I have also played the Soprano Cornet with the Oakleigh, Heidelberg and Moorabbin Bands in Victoria.
Since moving to Noosa about five years ago, I have joined the Sunshine Coast Brass Band and the Sunshine Coast Concert Band playing Cornet and Trumpet.
I started my Presenter Training at Noosa 101.3 fm under the one of the stations senior Presenters, Wayne Carlson and first went on-air solo in October of 2015.
