THURSDAY BREAKFAST: Thursday 7 am - 9 am Hi all, I grew up in Melbourne where I lived until I was about 28, when I took off to a Down to Earth festival on the Vic/NSW border and never went back. I spent 15 years in Nimbin where I first discovered community radio as a work for the dole commitment, re-inventing new skills I could gain to be allowed to keep doing it. (yes for 15 years) I was a big part of getting them their permanent licence, as well as being on air and involved in production. Almost everything was CD’s and minidiscs back then. Oh, the stories I could tell; but won’t. Fast forward to Noosa Community Radio (which it was called then), where I was first refused as a Centrelink participant, then got involved anyway, becoming a presenter, producer, trainer, vice-president, semi-techie, web master and mister fix-it man. Later I was a paid supervisor. I jumped in to the world of sound editing software with a lot of help from Sheng Yee, our techie at the time and Harry Miller, both enduring and selfless heroes to the station. I have a passion for local, social and political affairs and delight in finding songs with lyrics to fit my stories. |
