NOOSA FM In-House On Air Monitoring Upgrade

NOOSA FM's in-house Radio On-Air Monitoring System has been recently updated. The work was carried out by Mike (center) and Ryan (right), pictured above.

Mike mentioned that in the early days of Noosa Community Radio he was on the steering committee and later acted as tech manager where among other things he set up the studio, sourced and erected the antenna, and supplied equipment for the first transmissions. This was at the old yacht club on the Noosa river. You can read all about this period of the station's history (plus much more) in the 'Community Radio, The Noosa Story, 20/20 Hindsight' by Andrew Tucker and Brian Panisset.

On the day there was no shortage of assistance offered from a couple of our presenters: Mary-Rose (left) and Mel C. (back) who seemed eager to help if required. Who would have thought that there would be so much interest in electronics?

This might not be the right forum for my request: For many years we spent our (northern hemisphere) winter months in Noosa and always enjoyed listening to Noosa FM with your great presenters. Now we are just going to Hawaii due to the too long flights to AUS. Recently I discovered that Noosafm is streaming, however I also realised that most of the time it does not work. Transmission gets interrupted and does not come back until I fiddle around, and then it's back for a few minutes. Once I was lucky and managed to listen to the entire Geoff Colwell program, which I always loved, but that worked only once during the past three weeks.
I do wonder, if it is a technical or costly program to stream via MP3 or wmp. Via http://radiolist.net/au/queensland I get a number of stations, however noosafm is not on it. Would appreciate a response. Aloha Klaus Kittel, Honolulu, HI
