As the saying goes, "Winners are grinners", and there was certainly an abundance of grinning at NOOSA FM's inaugural Trivia Night held at the Villa Noosa, Noosaville last Saturday night.
Co-hosted by Pete Remick and Pete Dillon, the Pete & Pete team fronted a well run evening. Of course the event would have remained just another great idea being discussed over coffee if not for a substantial behind the scenes effort from a committed group of organizers and support crew from the station.
We eased gently into the evenings proceedings with a simple "Stand up everybody" from host Pete Remick. "Now sit down if... and sit down if..." etc. until only six people remained standing. With the final six pairing off, the eventual winner was determined through the ever reliable 'Paper, Rock Scissors'. The winner, clutching booty (bottle of wine) to his chest, was clapped and cheered back to his seat by an enthusiastic crowd... and we were away.
Lots of Trivia questions ensued. Some easy, and for some of us, too many not so easy. The various question categories where broken up with other classic activities such as raffles, art auctions and numerous prize give-aways. One these events that proved to be very popular was the tossing of a gold coin at a 12 year old bottle of scotch. Closest got to keep the goodies.
The night wound up a little later than expected and while many ambled off with prizes tucked away, most where simply happy to have been part of a great fun night.
We can't finish up without again thanking Villa Noosa and the very friendly and capable staff for their support on the night. Also a huge thank you to all the local businesses and individuals who donated prizes to the night.
Footnote: It seems that the winning bug was catching that night as the Australian Wallabies also won, defeating the invincible New Zealand All Blacks.

"To all of those involved in the Trivia Fundraiser on Saturday night, a huge vote of thanks. We raised almost $1000, and we have a lot of interest in another event which we will be pleased to host at some stage early in the new year. There were some terrific contributions in the planning and delivery of the event and it was terrific fun. Thanks one and all."
