TUESDAY DRIVE: Tuesday 4 pm - 6 pm

Jazz has called the Sunny Coast his home for almost over 10 years, moving up with his family from the Northern Beaches of Sydney when he was in primary school.  Ever since, he developed an immense passion for music, beginning with learning the drums.  Whether playing on the opera house stage, in a pit orchestra, or in the studio… Jazz has loved every second of it!

At 17 years old, he is currently finishing his final year of school, making him the youngest presenter at NOOSA FM.

This is Jazz’s first year at Noosa FM, and he has a lot planned!  His current Program, “Young Blood”, explores Australia’s young musicians & what they listen to.  Specifically promoting the unheard local (often school-age) talent the sunshine coast has to offer.

He provides an insight into the sounds of the future.

Station News: Good Shepherd Lutheran College visit

On Wednesday 22nd June, thirteen year 11 students visited NOOSA Fm for a taste of a real live working radio station. They arrived at 9:30 am and were given a station tour by Jimi Mc and John Schluter.

Next up it was in at the deep end with Len Tyler for an interview live on air. Len worked his inimitable magic creating a relaxed ambience for the students to individually express their views and the general concensus was that it was a fabulous introduction to live radio! He even managed to persuade a very reluctant Monique to join in the fun.

Afterwards it was open forum  with John Schluter who gave generously of his time answering informal questions and sharing his immense experience in the world of TV and Radio.

And with a quick look at the practice studio and a teaser session with Jimi Mc the students managed to cover quite a lot in a relatively short visit.

Special thanks to Vice Principal Mr Stock and Film, TV, New media and English teacher Miss Lillingstone.

Good Shepherd Lutheran College will be our first School of the Month… more details to follow.

The lads, with their support team led by the amazing Hazel Starr from Interact Australia, learnt about the history of the station and even had a go at working the desk in Studio 2! A lot of fun was had by all and there were huge smiles all round! Thanks for the visit and all the best!

Youth News: 11yr olds make headlines...

Watch out Triple J radio announcers. Eliza Grogan and Anna Bennet of The J just could be about to knock you off your on-air perch.

At least around the northern end of the Sunshine Coast.

Whereas Triple J's afternoon schlock jocks look well into their 20s, the latest stars of Noosa 101.3 fm are yet to enter their teens.

And if there is a younger set of CD spinners working live in a radio studio than this embryonic pairing of raw talent and creativity, they have not been heard on the Coast as yet.

The two upbeat 11-year-olds, who attend Tewantin State School, are winning over fans with their edgy air play that includes writing their own skits, poking fun at school and their teachers and playing music that is anything from classic rock to their own novelty records. And they do email requests.

As part of the community radio station’s youth development, Eliza and Anna undertook a radio presenter’s course before some fill-in spots resulted in a regular Tuesday, 4pm to 5pm gig called ‘Kids on Air’.
