Tuesday Morning Magazine:  9 am - 12 pm

"Good Vibes"  with Jessica Quinlan

Hi, I’m Jess. I’ve always been known as the bubbly energetic one, as I have grown, I’ve developed a calm nature too – it’s a good balance.
I’m pretty much about loving life, having a positive mindset and doing things that light you up.
With my working journey, let’s say I have stepped into many different roles and industries - from personal training, working with children, working in disability, events and promotions, life coaching, being an adventure guide, barista and lots of different retail positions. I have even been a skater waiter in a diner – now that was fun!

It seems that I have been searching for “my thing” - the thing that lights me up every day. Get me behind a microphone and I feel such a buzz.  After working in several commercial radio stations as a promotional assistant,
I can honestly admit watching the presenters made me dream that one day     I wanted to do that. I was told about Noosa FM radio’s trainee                                                                      course and I jumped at the chance of learning to become a presenter.

So here I am - ready to bring you my “Good Vibes” radio show served with more than a                                                                       dash of positivity an
d quirkiness.

The Millennium Scene with Reuben Cosgrove

Saturday 3 pm - 5 pm:

My program, The Millennium Scene, showcases music from all the sub-genres that have sprung up around punk and metal over the past three decades. From ska-punk to thrashcore to Midwest emo and everything in between, it explores the surprising diversity of the modern rock scene.

I’ve lived on the Sunshine Coast all my life which, so far, is only 17 years. For more than half of that, I’ve had a fascination with music, learning about musical theory from a young age. I attribute most of my musical taste to the early 2000s video games I played as a child, with soundtracks that led me to discover punk legends like Less Than Jake and NOFX. I don’t often get the opportunity to share my musical tastes with like-minded people, so having a radio show was a perfect opportunity to do that on a larger scale. In recent years, I’ve also put my hand at writing songs myself.

"IT'S ALL TALK": Monday 9 AM - 12 pm

Growing up on a sugar-cane farm on the Maroochy River, I am a proud born-n-bred Sunny Coaster! My 30-plus-year career as a journalist allowed the ‘curious me’ to ask many questions and write many positive stories. I worked in London for the Fleet Street newspapers in the late 80s, worked for Asia-Pacific region publications and spent many years as a journo and editor here on the Sunshine Coast and in Brisbane.

For 14 years I was one of the volunteer organisers of the Yandina Street Fair and am proud to say that I built the performance stages from two to five during those years, booking many regional musos and, for many young bands or solo performers, our event was the first time they had ever performed in public.

I started the Sunshine Coast International Readers and Writers Festival in 2016, the Sunshine Coast Poetry Slam Championships in 2017 (as part of Queensland Poetry Festival) and the regular fortnightly Words@play open-mic poetry nights in 2018. I have now passed these great events on to new custodians who will do them proud.

I also have a passion for amateur theatre and have acted, directed, written, stage managed, painted sets, made cups of tea, set up tables and ushered punters in for decades.

Growing up on the cane farm, my folks only had Gilbert and Sullivan records – and Reader’s Digest collections. Then young Uncle Geoff came to visit and left his modern album by a band called The Seekers. What a mind changer! Even though my Dad, Bill, was a gifted piano player in his youth, we never had musical instruments in the house until I was 13 and finally got the guitar I had sulked about for a good six months. The very month that I left for university, my mum, Beryl, was excited to get delivery of a piano – and she promptly signed up for lessons. As a sole parent, I grew my boys (now amazing young men) with a house full of instruments – guitars, a pink ukulele, a really cool drum kit (with my grandma’s feather pillow stuffed inside the big drum), a keyboard and heaps of percussion stuff.

I wrote my first poem when I was four, according to family folklore, and was first published in The Sunday-Mail when I was 10 with my poem called “The Eremite”.

So I love writing, I love stories, I love music and lyrics and I love promoting our regional writers – especially our young ones. I too, have many stories to tell having interviewed hundreds of regional characters over the years and I would love to share these local history tidbits with you.

My “It;s All Talk"  with Wendyoh” show profiles regional singer-songwriters, performance poets, authors and scriptwriters plus info on great events and gigs across this region. So tune in to "It's All Talk" with Wendyoh.

THURSDAY DRIVE with Charlie:  Thursday 4 pm - 6 pm

Hi! I am Charlie, aka Lisa Charlwood.

A Queenslander, born and raised. My love for music, theatre and dance stems back to when I was a little girl participating in dance for most of my childhood. In my late teens my Mother and I belonged to the local amateur theatre group in Beenliegh where we both performed in many Musicals and Plays.

In 2010 I decided to move my four little cubs and myself to the Sunny Coast to be closer to my immediate family, and start a fresh.

It was only months later I discovered the Peregian Originals and it is this little hotspot in the park where I found a network of like-minded friends. From this moment onward, the love of local music, venues and artists began to rapidly escalate.

Fast forward to present day… and closet dream finally coming into fruition – Now a Presenter on Local Community Radio. NOOSA FM!

My mission as a Presenter for NOOSA FM 101.3 is to share some of our local and global new talent, banter, and take the music and tune of the theme, one program at a time, allowing for expansion and limiting restrictions…

I am enjoying being part of the NOOSA FM family, and sharing with my local and global community of like-minded listeners.

REELIN' IN THE YEARS: Tuesday 6 pm - 9 pm

‘’Growing up in the US in the early 60’s in Detroit and then Coastal Florida was a brilliant intro into both Motown, Soul and R&B and then Southern Rock and the laid-back Jimmy Buffett beach lifestyle.

Fortunately, being raised in a house where the radio and  music and banter never stopped, records, 8-tracks and  radio were the staple ingredient of most meals, most days and every party.

Arriving in Australia in 1978, and living around the Coast Hinterland and Noosa since the early 80’s means  the  parties, cookouts and beach music have never ended.

My new program Reelin’ in the Years is a weekly music and lifestyle magazine of 2 hours  Tuesday nights from 8pm of the tracks and stories of our lives….if you can remember the tunes and how good the times were in the 60’s, 70’s and early 80’s you’ll probably get our groove.

Along with the stories and legends behind the albums and artists, I’ll be joined by a  motley band of friends and minstrels dropping in for a chat about local artists and events & gigs,  good food & wine, great alfresco recipes and travels off the beaten track and even some live cooking and music from time to time.

Looking forward to sharing the good times with you…see you Tuesday nights from 8.’’

ULTRA CULCHA: Friday 9 am – 12 pm
GIN ON THE DECK - Sunday 4 pm - 8 pm

With a father who was trumpeter & a radio twiddler (and an expert at playing the spoons and the comb). And a Grandmother who was an opera singer and swing time piano player at the local village pub there was no other direction for me to follow but music and theatre.

As a child I would sit with my father in his workshop and we would play with his old bakerlite radio which had short wave on it and we could listen to radio from all over the world. I thought it amazing as a 12 year old that we could hear live music being played from thousands of miles away through the power of the air waves. This began my love of radio.

I became involved in community radio when I moved to the Blue Mountains in the early 90’s and was involved in the station for many years. I presented “Berrocka Brunch” every Saturday for a decade and I loved every note of it. This led me into community festivals and other wonderful performing genres that live on the edge of the arts sphere.

THE WAVE: From late til light and 7 nights a week:
SATURDAY "SPOTLIGHT" with Noosa FM : Saturday 5 pm - 9 pm

Music from the tranny to the sound cloud is the selection on THE WAVE, the new revamped NOOSA FM overnight program. Much has changed technically over the years but the one beautiful constant in everyone's lives remains - the magic of music. THE WAVE is blended to evoke the senses of your wonderful memories; the sights, sounds, scents and feelings of your very personal space in time. Music is constantly being updated and refreshed. You'll hear recent releases from old favourites and our world class Sunshine Coast artists and bands; another very important community objective of THE WAVE.

Most of my working life was spent promoting the visual arts by day and the performing arts at night and weekends. A love for community radio grew from several years as an on-air presenter and producer on Perth radio. Now I have the best job in the world; caring for the extensive music library at NOOSA FM, built and maintained by the dedicated volunteers at the station since its inception.

I'm privileged and proud to extend the commitment to good music, variety and entertainment from our very talented day/night presenters into the wee small hours and hope you'll join us on THE WAVE, all night, every night on your wavelength 101.3.

PET-PURRI: Wednesday 2 pm - 4 pm

"What would our world be without animals and pets? Thank God for them."

I have been with NOOSA FM since early 2016, starting at reception getting to know our Community Station's ins and outs and all the great people. In May 2017, I undertook at 3 months training to became a presenter with NOOSA FM.

With Pet-Purri, I bring you great music, and of course, we talk dogs and all things pet. Dogs are a big part of our society and in our families and homes. Whether as companion, servicing as assistant dog for special needs persons, for sick or lonely people, as rescue, guarding or sniffer dogs. There is so many areas where we employ dogs nowadays. No other being has put up with us for so many thousands of years developing relentlessly into servicing our requirements.

I like to bring community issues around dogs to our attention as well as introducing breeds, handling, feeding and exercising our loyal friends.

There are many community based charities and organizations that care about dogs and their owners, my program introduces them to you and will keep you up-to-date with their doings.  And of course, I will talk about cats, birds and other animals, our dogs friends in our homes and environment.

Lost your pet? Call us we can put a search on-air...

Write to me about your pet by sending an email to reception@noosafm.org. I am looking forward hearing from you and all about your pets.

METAL NIGHTS: Monday 8 pm - 10 pm

Having been around music his whole life, Brian's introduction into radio stemmed from his interest in music from a young age.  His first ever concert was Deep purple, supported by Billy Thorpe an The Aztecs and since then it has cemented his love for music and live concerts. This life long passion has inspired him to pursue a career in the Radio presenting world.

As of February 2017, Brian's journey into Radio kicked off with his inaugural radio program - 'Metal nights with Brian'. You will hear the latest news, current gigs and concerts, classic albums as well as a broad selection music from the Metal community.

One aim high on Brian's list is to attempt to break the stigma that is attached to the genre of Heavy metal, and show the broader community that there is a lot of under recognised talent out there.

MONDAY BREAKFAST: Monday 7 am - 9 am

Noosa is the best place in the world and it is hard to beat playing some good music on the radio here.

I’ve been a visitor to Noosa since before I could walk so moving here permanently a few years ago was the only sensible thing to do.

I have always had an interest in music and the media so when the chance came up to do the presenters course I jumped at it.

My other interests include cycling, swimming, triathlon, surfing and travel.

MONDAY DRIVE: Monday 4 pm - 6 pm

Born in Munich, Germany, I have lived in Sydney for 55 years before moving to Noosaville in 2015 with my wife to be near family.

I have been retired from the Graphic Arts/Printing Industry for some years now.
My lifelong love of music, in particular Blues and Jazz, prompted me to undergo the Presenter’s Course at NOOSA FM.

My lack of any great talent as a musician (I do dabble in guitar!) allows me to at least play and share my vast collection of CDs with an audience (I hope).

My show consists of Jazz, Blues, Rock, Soul and R&B, although not necessarily restricted to those genres in a pure sense.
